BEIJING-- The high-performance, affordable synthetic intelligence model launched recently by Chinese start-up DeepSeek has produced a wave of attention around the globe. DeepSeek-R1 appears to offer performance that competitors from the U.S., but the business says it was developed at less than a tenth of the cost of those models.
